Rabies Control Organizations
Rabies control organizations are designed to educate people about rabies as well as to help stop the spread of this virus.
Talking with Others
Since killing all animals that might have rabies is a big no-no (thanks PETA), rabies control organizations are there to help stop the spread of rabies in the world. These organizations will help to talk to people in the local area about rabies, what the symptoms are, how it’s spread, etc. By talking and communicating with the local folks, they can help to make sure that rabies infections are kept to a minimum and that the proper steps are taken to make sure animals aren’t infected as well.
Teaching Others
Going out to schools and to other groups is another function of rabies control organizations. They will present the facts about rabies (to a very bored high school class, no doubt) and then they will answer any questions asked. This helps to spread the world about rabies and it helps to give the teachers some much needed time away from their regular classes. Some rabies organizations also have handy flyers and articles on their website to help people better understand what rabies is, what it does, and how it can be avoided.
Working with Animal Control
Since animals are the way rabies spreads, rabies control organizations will also work with the local animal control centers to point out when animals are infected with rabies or appear to be infected with rabies. This way, the animals can be removed from the area and other animals can be watched for infection.
You can’t do all of the work of preventing rabies on your own, so these organizations are here to help.
